Ana Valdivia will present a paper titled "Neither opaque nor transparent: Algorithmic power at EU’s datafied borders" at the STS-MIGTEC circle.
Ana will explain the tension between opacity and transparency at the EU border. How are EU’s datafied borders produced, by which actors, and through which solutions and technologies? How are EU’s borders transformed through these contracts and technologies? Ana will present the methodology developed to analyse contracts of two EU agencies, which will answer these questions and show frictions between visibility and invisibility.
This is an ongoing piece of work co-authored by Claudia Aradau, Tobias Blanke and Sarah Perret.
